English Dub Review: Berserk of Gluttony “To Galia”

Overview:

Fate faces off against Hado Vlerick, putting his pilfered power to the test. Roxy arrives in Galia and takes her father’s place. Fate follows after her, but along the way, he finds prior abusers in desperate need of his help.

Our Take:

I have to say that Garret Storms does a fantastic job as Fate. Up until this point, he’s sounded a bit mousey and scared. This makes sense given where he came from and what he’s had to deal with but as he’s gotten more powerful you’d have to think that would change right? When he faces off against Hado you can hear how much he’s changed and I think that has to be difficult as an actor to voice the same character in different ways.

Once again though I have to call out anime for how it treats mortally wounded characters. After Fate is done with Hado he is missing all of his arms and legs, not only that but he falls out of the sky. Now I understand that a holy knight is kind of like a superhero but still the fact he was able to keep having a conversation was wild to me.

Fate has shown a lot of growth not only in his voice but in his actions as well. A man who used to bully him is trying to get people to help his village which has been under attack by monsters. Fate could have told him to screw off but he decides to help the guy. Right now, it seems like it might have been a mistake because he got drugged by someone to be a sacrifice for those monsters but it doesn’t seem his friend was to blame.
