English Dub Review: A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring “What’s a Dad?”

Overview:

After arriving in Bailey, Takumi first talks with Syl and receives some news and gifts. Then he heads to the Adventurer’s Guild, where a great commotion suddenly breaks out.

Our Take:

I don’t mean to sound jealous but I wish I were an anime protagonist sometimes. Not even for the reasons you might think. I don’t want a harem or need superpowers, but it would be awesome to be gifted a house or items worth millions of dollars. To get the blessings of a god, whether it be skills or contracted beasts, Takumi is living his best life. After everything he’s done so far, the fire god wants to give Takumi some gifts as well. He gets a new contracted beast, which is a giant lion that hasn’t learned telepathy yet. He can also use fire magic now which I’m sure will be helpful down the line.

One thing I don’t envy Takumi for is walking around with the children of a water god. He has to be in constant fear of whether their dad is going to come by and want his kids back. Sure, he doesn’t have to give them back and we don’t want him to but what would be the right thing to do? Luckily, we learned from Syl that the water god is kind of a piece of shit so he won’t be coming around anytime soon.
