Caroline Thompson Working On Two Animated Movies With Big-Name Directors**Updated 8/5**

Former Tim Burton collaborator Caroline Thompson (Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands) is working on two animated projects with two big-name directors according to new reports from Deadline.

The first one is called Snootworld directed by David Lynch and the fantasy animated comedy is looking for producers despite the fact that Netflix already turned it down. According to the report:

The Snoots are these tiny creatures who have a ritual transition at aged eight at which time they get tinier and they’re sent away for a year so they are protected. The world goes into chaos when the Snoot hero of the story disappears into the carpet and his family can’t find him and he enters a crazy, magnificent world

The three-act story features two stories written by Thompson and the other by Lynch with Papa Lynch even teasing he approached his daughter to take on the reigns. The other big project Thompson is working on is a live-action/animated hybrid from Mathieu Kassovitz entitled The Big War. The English-language feature-length is inspired by cult French graphic novel La Bete Est Morte which was written during WW2 and according to Deadline:

It reimagines that war as enacted by animals. The Nazis are the wolves who go after the ‘vermin’ — the rabbits — who represent the war’s victims. The story focuses on two rabbits who go after their family who have been taken away and on their journey they discover adventures and more rabbits who join their cause.

Apparently The Big War is further along than Lynch’s and has several buyers lined up in UK and the US so we might be seeing that one sooner than later. In any event, Caroline Thompson has a lot going on which is great news for us movie-goers.

Updated 8/5: David Lynch has confirmed that Snootworld has been turned down by Netflix.
