English Dub Review: Viral Hit “Joy”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Despite seemingly being outmatched in every department, Hobin challenges Ssireum wrestler, Mangi Hwang, to a rematch, but is this one fight too far for the amateur fighter?

Our Take:
Hobin has really pushed himself to his limit this time.  Thanks to his uncontrollable urge to fight, Hobin faces his final opponent of the show’s season, which may also be his last.  His opponent is none other than Mangi Hwang, and if you couldn’t tell from the previous episodes, he’s a persistent pervert who has his eyes set on Bomi.  Plus, his size and front suplex are deadly enough to easily counter Hobin’s fighting moves.  Fortunately, Hobin wasn’t stupid enough to tackle Mangi immediately, as he sought help from his former rival, Taehun, to learn his deadly taekwondo technique to counter Mangi’s wrestling moves: The back kick.
The season finale would’ve been another episode involving a tremendous finisher to cap off this challenging showdown, mainly Hobin’s back kick to Mangi’s crotch.  However, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as Hobin’s fight against Mangi suddenly concludes when Hobin takes Mangi’s wig off.  Afterward, Hobin and Snapper discover Mangi’s sensitive side, as the latter is depressed over not being loved by girls due to his body and baldness.  Fortunately, being the sensitive and sympathetic guy he is, Hobin and his viewers inspire Mangi not to give up on his dream, resulting in another successful video from Viral Hit.  What’s even better for Hobin is that his mom’s surgery date has finally been finalized, although he would need to make more money to pay for the procedure.
“Joy” showcased that even bullies have layers deep within their outer soulless personalities, especially Mangi.  The same should surprisingly be said for Taehun via a flashback, displaying Taehun’s reasoning for being on his destructive path.  He was hurt that martial arts was taking over the population, so Taehun set out to prove that taekwondo was better.  This hearkened back to the previous episode, in which Hobin declared how cool taekwondo is, leading to Taehun’s acceptance to train him.  Pakgo, on the other hand, can go piss off somewhere.  Overall, this is a heartwarming ending to one of the surprising smash hits of the season that left things open for a possible second season.
