English Dub Review: The Unwanted Undead Adventurer “The Rookie and the Veteran”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
In the dungeon, Rentt encounters a rookie adventurer named Rina and attempts to enlist her aid with his predicament.

Our Take:
In the previous episode, we were briefly introduced to a new rookie named Rina Rupaage, who’s joining the adventurer’s guild amid Rentt’s quest to achieve Existential Evolution.  However, she’s only shown in a brief flashback.  This week’s episode introduces Rina properly as she explores the Moon’s Reflection Labyrinth, where Rentt spends his days evolving into a ghoul.  Fortunately, his ghoulish form allows Rentt to use his powerful strength against the labyrinth’s most potent enemies, which is enough to save Rina from one of the skeleton enemies.
The encounter between the two resulted in Rina agreeing to help Rentt escape the labyrinth, thanks to Rentt’s improved speech.  However, that doesn’t mean his troubles are over, as Rina accidentally buys a cursed mask that attaches to his face and can’t be removed.  On the bright side, he doesn’t have to worry about hiding his face from the public.  Regardless, Rentt and Rina arrive at Maalt Village, where Rentt pays a visit to his long-time friend, Lorraine Vivie, a Silver-class adventurer.
The episode quickly kicks Rentt’s adventure outside the labyrinth into high gear, mainly due to Rina’s kind-hearted personality.  Like Rentt, she too dreams of becoming a great adventurer, but regarding her sword skills, she’s got a long way to go to fulfill that dream.  Regarding her compassionate personality and Abigail Blythe’s decent voice work, I bet we’ll see Rina again sooner rather than later, assuming she’ll forgive Rentt for ditching her.  As for the episode itself, it doesn’t offer much in its reincarnation fantasy formula to increase my intrigue, but that could change now that Rentt’s new journey as an undead adventurer has begun.
