English Dub Review: The Misfit of Demon King Academy “The Great Demon King Drills”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
That day, Anos had a dream about a time when he lived together with a young girl.  The young girl is strangely also named Arcana…. Furthermore, the fact that the Draconids called the fusion of Sasha and Misha the Goddess of Absurdity, Genedonov, was also a problem.  To investigate the piling mysteries, Anos decides to take a special class in the Underground World.  As a special lecturer, Anos teaches the students of Demon King Academy himself!?

Our Take:
Ahide has been defeated, but that doesn’t mean our problems with the gods are also over.  After another “short” delay, the show has returned for the final arc of its sophomore season.  Based on the previous episode’s ending, it’s unsurprising that we’re leaving ourselves with more mysteries than the last.  One mystery that arises is Anos’s past, mainly involving his younger sister, Arcana.  Strangely, the sister’s name resembles the name of the goddess who now serves as Anos’s new ally.  That’s not going to get confusing.
There’s also the matter of Sasha and Misha’s fusion being more than we previously thought.  It turns out that the Draconids have been deeming the sisters’ fusion the Goddess of Absurdity, Genedonov, although they have no memory of them being gods themselves.  This is because their memories were stolen by a mysterious god who can control and steal people’s dreams, meaning it’s time for the gang to return to the Underground World.  However, they’re not doing this mission alone, as Anos decides to reveal himself to the class after disguising himself as a transfer student for a few episodes.  As a substitute teacher, Anos trains the students for their field trip to the Underground World.
“The Great Demon King Drills” is basically another convoluted expedition dump teasing what’s to come in the last few episodes.  Afterward, the second half has Anos strengthening the students’ potential and magic, including Lay and Misa, who attempted and failed to overcome Anos’s powerful “love” for Shin with their own.  It’s also not without a few comedic moments, like Arcana (the goddess, not Anos’s sister) lying in bed with Anos.  I told you it’s not going to get confusing.  We also got more of the badly-rendered CGI dragons, but thankfully, they didn’t appear as often as in the previous episodes.  Now that we got that out of the way, let the field trip commence…in the next episode!
