English Dub Review: Spice and Wolf MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF “Supper of Three and Afternoon of Two”

Overview

Holo, Lawrence, and Nora sit down for a much-deserved meal, but Holo’s not her usual self. Holo remembers the past and contemplates the future…

Our Take

In a nutshell, this episode was mostly dialogue in one room for 25 minutes, yet it still managed to remain compelling, as It effectively wraps up Holo’s jealousy arc, putting her and Nora on good terms. Seeing Holo reflect on her time with Lawrence was heartwarming, emphasizing how meaningful their relationship has become.

Lawrence’s care for Holo, from tucking her in bed to feeding her, was incredibly sweet. Despite Lawrence’s lack of emotional intelligence, the episode captured Holo’s endearing jealousy when he praised Nora. The interaction between Holo and Nora, bonding over Lawrence’s cluelessness, was amusing and signaled the end of their rivalry.

Overall, this episode served as a great breather and transition to the next arc. It wasn’t the most exciting plot-wise, but it showcased the characters’ dynamics and provided a touching, heartfelt experience. Seeing Lawrence take care of a sick Holo while she dealt with her feelings toward Nora was delightful, and the post-credit scene hinting at the future added an extra layer of anticipation for what’s to come.
