English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “Extras”

Overview:

Shoto Todoroki stopped Dabi with his Great Glacial Aegir, and reports of that bolstered the spirits of the heroes fighting in other locations. And Shoto and Dabi’s father, Endeavor, is facing the greatest evil, All For One, with Hawks!

Our Take:

All for One better watch his back because you don’t just do that to the best girl Jiro and not expect some retaliation. The choice of where to end this episode was also interesting, right when we get two 1-A kids injured let’s cut to credits. It did remind me that My Hero Academia has been around so long that I forgot that Hawks was one of Zeno Robinson’s first roles. It was the first place I had heard of him and now I would argue he is one of the more in-demand VAs out there.

The title of this episode is fitting for a multitude of reasons. In one respect it’s funny because that’s what Bakugo calls everyone who isn’t him or Deku. The more interesting aspect is the fact that characters that would just be considered “extras” are the ones fighting their hardest to keep All for One at bay.  It angered me a little bit as well because while I understand these aren’t the most popular of characters (other than Hawks maybe) they are some of my favorite characters. I think next week will be a fun episode and we’ll get to see Jiro get some revenge.
