English Dub Review: Bye Bye, Earth “Departure at the Red Hour”

Overview:

Villagers call on a wandering swordsman to rid them of a lake monster, but he sends his apprentice: a girl they have never seen like none before. She may know how to fight, but can she ever feel at home in a world that sees her as a freak?

Our Take:

I’m not sure where this particular story is going to go. Is this an isekai? Does it take place on Earth just far in the future or something? There’s plenty of mystery to be had and it did just enough to reel me in to stay interested. Belle Leblanc is the only human in a world of anthropomorphic animals and is looking for someone who looks like her. If I was the only human in a world like that I would probably be doing the same thing. But there has to be an explanation for what is going on with her and humanity in general. That will be fun to find out I think.

I don’t think this series is anything special but it’s fun at least. The fight scenes were interesting and kept me engaged but I left episode one with more questions than anything which means the episode did its job to keep me hooked for the moment. Bye, Bye Earth is based on a four-volume light novel series so there’s also a chance we’ll see an ending to this as well which is good.
