Bedrock Canceled At FOX

It is beyond rare that an animated series gets a full cast announced in pre-production only for it to ultimately not move forward. In my lifetime, it has happened twice by FOX, once with Murder Police and another with this series, Bedrock. With a cast that had Elizabeth in the lead role of Pebbles Flintstone, the suddenly hot Manny Jacinto as Bamm-Bamm Rubble, Stephen Root and Amy Sedaris as Fred and Wilma Flintstone and Joe Lo Truglio and Nicole Byer as Barney and Betty Rubble, this series had a lot of potential to go places, but we’ll never know now.

TV Line is reporting that the sequel series to the legendary The Flintstones, Bedrock, is not moving forward with FOX though the network is keeping the door open for a possible redevelopment. The series which was slated to take place twenty years after the classic The Flintstones series with Pebbles getting ready to enter the workforce while her dad is getting to ready to leave it all behind.

FOX recently revealed their already stacked Animation Domination slate which is coming this fall that you can see here.

Our Take

This one hurts. I get that FOX is prioritizing ownership as an end-all-be-all, but for this series to be in active development for three years only for it not to come to fruition is a real dick punch.

Synopsis:

As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club
