OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Lincoln spends time with his dad, uncle, cousin, and grandfather in some Loud Male Bonding on the open sea as they hunt his grandpa’s white whale (or rather sturgeon), Moby Rick.OUR TAKEThat’s a wrap on the second of three weeks of The Loud House episodes, and this time it’s no girls allowed as we get an episode just about the men of The Loud Family. This is actually a change of pace from other episodes where there was at least one of the sisters around for at least some period of time. It’s ALL TESTOSTERONE this time. But that doesn’t mean we can’t get a wholesome message about family out of it all! In fact, this episode primarily focuses on prioritizing family over unhealthy obsession, with Grandpa Loud going full Captain Ahab and harboring a grudge against a bigger than average fish for taking his toe.Yeah, it’s basically a watered down (pun not intended) version of the classic story of Moby Dick, though with less sperm whales and more people who were products of YOUR sperm. By the way, did you know Moby Dick has a whole chapter just about the protagonist Ishmael talking about how it feels to put his hands in barrels of whale sperm? Crazy stuff, especially having to take a whole class about it. But yeah, while the story and its clear inspirations aren’t anything to write home about, it’s still nice to see a pretty scaled down episode just about the guys this time. I’m a little surprised to see that the only male immediate family members could all fit on a small boat, but it probably made it easier to animate at least. And as said, that’s another week of The Loud House episodes in the bag, with one more to go before the premiere of their third movie next friday. We’ve had a pretty mixed bag so far across this and last week, with some episodes being rather dull and others being pleasant surprises, but none that were ever outright bad or all that great. Perhaps the third week will be the charm and we’ll get something special out of this after all?
