English Dub Review: Vampire Dormitory “Love 7. The pretty boy goes on a date.”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Before his date with Mito, Ruka is confronted by cohorts who’ve come to harass him.  Ruka’s feelings for Mito and his need to protect her are making him disregard the search for his destined partner.  Trouble arrives when Mito is unexpectedly targeted.

Our Take:
With the second half of the season, the series hopes to take some more interesting turns in its vampiric love story.  For starters, Mito and Ruka are now getting closer together than ever, allowing their true feelings to slowly surface.  But, of course, they would have to survive their first “date” before moving forward.  Their first outing together is none other than a fireworks show at a festival, but beforehand, Ruka is forced to meet up with his mysterious cohorts, which is where the show’s real fun begins.  Ruka’s vampiric clan hopes he’ll find his destined partner to become a true ruler of the vampires, but Ruka’s affection towards Mito puts that plan and Ruka’s trust in his clan in jeopardy.  Even though Ruka escaped their harassment, partly due to Komori turning them into animals, that hasn’t stopped them from targeting Mito, including one in his snake form.
Another element that’s turning the tide of the season is Ren, who recently discovered his feelings toward Mito.  He attempted to confess his love to Mito, but the fireworks drowned out his confession. However, Ruka finally makes his first move by kissing Mito while they tend to each other’s injuries.  It’s nice that it didn’t take them an entire season to seal the deal, but that doesn’t make the problems afterward less stressful, especially Mito’s secret.  Unfortunately for her, that also didn’t last very long, as a single snake bite from the vampiric cohort was all it took for Ren to discover Mito’s feminine side.  While I could fault the series for following its love triangle trope, I would credit the episode for reclaiming my interest through Mito’s secret revealed in front of Ren.  The second half of the series is going to be quite an experience.
