English Dub Review: TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy “The Utterly Hateable Good-For-Nothing”

Overview

Using the mutant disturbance as a decoy the demon army advances on the Kingdom of Limia and the Empire of Gritonia. The hyuman army tries to intercept them, but are quickly outnumbered and overpowered. The two great powers are on the verge of collapse.

Our Take

This time, we got a rare appearance from the Goddess, highlighting her unusual love/hate relationship with Makoto amidst the chaos. With Makoto’s interactions with said Goddess being filled with casual bickering and insults which seem appropriate given her track record of giving Makoto hell since Season One, so seeing him snap back at her pettiness was easily the highlight and it’s both satisfying and cathartic. However, the Goddess’s visit raises questions about her motives and future allies.

As the plot starts to pick up, Makoto is now actively interfering in the affairs of the world. The demihumans are prepared for combat, and we see Makoto’s strength as he prepares to face Tomoki Iwahashi and other enemies. The episode also reminded us why Mio is such a badass, adding to the excitement as Makoto finally gave the order for all-out war. Mio, Tomoe, and the others are eager for the battle ahead, even as Makoto plans to keep his identity hidden to a certain extent.

Overall, this episode sets the stage for Makoto’s interactions with the other two heroes, promising intense battles and significant developments while adding a thrilling mix of action and character development. Makoto’s confrontation with the Goddess and his strategic moves against his enemies have heightened the stakes, especially with the demi-plane army ready for action and the return of familiar musical cues, along with the blend of satisfying payoffs and intriguing build-ups makes this one of the season’s best episodes, leaving me and possibly the audience eager to know what happens next!
