English Dub Review: The Misfit of Demon King Academy “Battle of Pride”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
A horde of dragons approaches Azeshion!  To protect their homeland with their own hands, the Hero Academy students set out to slay the dragons without the help of Anos and his friends.  Under Emilia’s command, the Hero Academy students engage in a battle to the death.  Meanwhile, Lay and Misa wind up in a predicament after being captured by Lysius…  Anos and the others head to the Underground World to take care of their own agenda.  There, he learns that Ahide is controlling the Draconids.

Our Take:
This week’s episode continues the multiple arcs introduced in the previous one.  One of them involves Emilia and the Hero Academy students continuing the fight against the dragons after making peace with each other.  Along with Eleonore and Zeshia, the Hero Academy students used the holy water and their courage to prevent the dragons from destroying Azeshion.  Before you ask, yes, the CGI for the dragons still looked very rough when colliding with the show’s 2D animation.  While the CGI wasn’t as bad here as in the previous episodes, it’s still a big eyesore for me to witness.  Since the second half of season two seemed to have already completed post-production, I feel I will be stuck looking at these hideous 3D effects for the remaining episodes.
As the episode progresses, it unravels that the dragon invasion and Lay and Misa’s encounter with Lysius are connected.  They’re both part of Ahide’s big plan to unleash more Draconids through Consecration and even a more enormous dragon to destroy Azeshion.  I know there’s more to this plot than what I explained, but trust me when I say that this is still the type of show that’s better to watch than talk about due to its complex world-building.  But on the bright side, we get to see Misa’s Avos form again, who’s now driven by Lay’s love.
