Overview:
The rescue party reaches the heart of the Teleporter Labyrinth and confronts its guardian. But when the monster shrugs off Rudeus’s magic, they realize they may have bitten off more than they can chew.
Our Take(Spoilers):
So that was… awful. I don’t mean the episode or anything of the sort but when I read the light novel I cried like a baby at this part. I did so again when I watched it today but somehow the anime managed to make it even more heartbreaking. It also hurts because we never got a chance to see Paul in action after all the awesome stories we’ve heard about him and now… we’ll never get to see him again. Can you believe the sub for this aired on Father’s Day? That was planned and it was cruel. Almost as cruel as how amazing the animation of this episode was. Studio Bind goes all out when it comes to fight scenes and this episode might have been their best work yet.
In the department of good news though season three has already been confirmed. I’m not exactly surprised since this anime has been very popular. I’m also looking forward to next season for personal reasons, it has one of my favorite arcs and since they killed it (too soon?) with this arc I couldn’t be more excited.
I would also like to shout-out to Madeline Morris and Jared Smith. Rudeus and Paul had some emotional lines in this episode and they did fantastic. Especially, Jared, you could feel the emotion when he finally found Zenith the way he did.
