English Dub Review: Black Butler “His Butler, Assenting”

Overview:

The truth behind the disappearances of Derrick Arden and the others comes to light. Moreover, Ciel discovers that a former Phantomhive ally has been involved.

Our Take:

I thought that since the prefects admitted to murdering Derrick and others, they would have done something truly horrendous. Don’t get me wrong, bullying is horrible and can lead people down a bad path but the prefects killed Derrick, his friends, and a teacher who was being bribed all in the name of “tradition”. They could have found another way besides murder to solve this problem but what do I know?

Another unexpected development for me was how badass this episode was. I know that this show deals with supernatural elements but I didn’t expect Sebastion to be quite as cold-blooded as he was. He crushed one of the zombie boy’s heads like it was a grape and I suppose I didn’t think this show would get that dark. Especially after the murder of Derrick for bullying, I thought it was going to be lame.

Now that Ciel’s job is done I wonder what the last few episodes are going to be about. The Queen has been notified of what happened to the missing boys and the prefects got their punishment. No, they’re not going to jail like most murderers, instead, they got expelled.
