Overview

Matt brings home a stray dog that keeps attacking Theodore Sr. Meanwhile, in the past, Young Theodore’s empire begins to crumble.

Our Take

Royal Crackers has done this a few times where they will do a lot of looking back at Theo Sr.’s tyrannic rise to power and it’s increasingly fascinating to see how he went about doing just that. In any event, fans of Mr. Pickles is going to love this week’s episode as this dog is almost as maniacal as the border collie from the aforementioned series by not just going after Senior (which was hysterical) but quite a few other people as well. But, really this entire episode is almost like a prequel-sequel bit that looks to potentially setting some things up down the road.

Even if the flips back and forth can be a bit clunky at times, Royal Crackers gives enough laughs where it doesn’t even matter. Like, the rest of the Hornsbys getting really worked up over Matt being early to decorating the X-Mas tree was great and then Theo Sr. pulling a fast one on is unsuspecting wife. The climax to the final episode of the second season was excellent and I’m hoping that this new dog becomes a permanent fixture to the Hornsby household moving forward because it seems that it could lead to a whole host of funny ideas.

I’m going to go more in depth in a full season two review next week but Royal Crackers wraps up this package up in style with some thought-provoking concepts, teases about the series’ future, and of course with it being one of the funniest series on television.
