English Dub Review: TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy “Fall of the Academy City”

Overview

Rotsgard’s turmoil continues. as numerous monsters have appeared in the city and Jin and his friends attempt to subjugate them. Meanwhile, Mio, who has been ordered by Makoto to protect the shelter, detects a strange smell from Makoto during her mission…

Our Take

This time around, Makoto faces hideous chaos of these gray tentacle mutant monsters head-on as he confronted the turmoil in Rotsgard. The tournament’s chaos spiraled out of control, leaving Ilumgand in a terrible state and making life in Rotsgard unpleasant for its villagers. Thankfully later on during this turmoil, Makoto and his group, who are delegated the fight against mutants to the knights, focused on aiding evacuation efforts.

With numerous monsters appearing in Rotsgard and its surrounding areas, Jin and others set out to exterminate them. But during her mission to escort refugees, Mio detects a strange smell, leading her to the grotesque discovery and Mio having in response to this, proceeds to make an easy decision when most people would be apprehensive…

Overall, while almost nothing happened during the proceedings with Makoto, Mio, and the others have the power to end the chaos swiftly, I find it strange of them to hold back for unclear reasons. And based on observation, something is off about Makoto’s indifference. Despite saving some women from a monster, his priorities and actions, such as focusing on his store during a city-wide massacre, are puzzling and detract from everything else. Hopefully this is subject to change in later episodes…
