English Dub Review: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability “The Demon Is Angry”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

Just when it seemed Sylpha was able to overpower the pack of bearwolves, the demon Pazuzu emits a miasma that has the knights collapsing to the ground.  Once even Sylpha and Tao are unable to retaliate, Lloyd finally makes his move.

Our Take:

Lloyd’s monster hunt has taken a slight detour due to the appearance of a demon far more dangerous than Grim.  While it seemed that Sylpha was able to overcome Pazuzu and his bearwolf army, this particular demon wasn’t willing to go down easily.  Just as Albert’s army is about to achieve victory, Pazuzu unleashes one last trick to level the playing field: a heinous stench that renders everyone unconscious, including Sylpha.  Tao was able to ignore Pazuzu’s miasma through her Qi breathing technique, but it wasn’t enough to overpower the seemingly powerful demon.

This resulted in Lloyd stepping up to test his new magic against Pazuzu and his bearwolf army.  Using the mana transmutation Grim taught him, Lloyd set the bearwolves free from Pazuzu’s control, leading to a discovery that Pazuzu was responsible for killing the bearwolves’ parents before controlling their offspring.  Afterward, Lloyd traps Pazuzu in a massive barrier and uses him as a test subject to see how long a demon would withstand his powerful magic.  Spoiler alert: the demon lasted five minutes until he turned to dust.  Before his demise, however, Pazuzu secretly gives Grim some of his mana so he has enough power to take over the kingdom.

“The Demon Is Angry” concludes Lloyd’s second battle with a demon in a humdrum affair.  However, it occasionally compensates for its formulaic plot with its flashy animation regarding Lloyd’s unique abilities.  Of course, it isn’t without a couple of risqué moments involving Sylpha and Tao’s ripped clothing, emphasizing the show’s desire to provide fan service.  Plus, we have an adorable, fluffy bearwolf for Lloyd to keep as his pet, so that’s another good thing coming out of this derivative series.
