English Dub Review: Black Butler “His Butler, Colluding”

Overview:

Ciel wins the P4’s trust, but he still can’t find a chance to get close to the Head Master. And so he brings up the subject of Derrick Arden with the P4 and their drudges. When he does, the expressions on the prefects’ faces change…

Our Take:

I’ve mentioned a multitude of times that I love smart protagonists. Seeing how they come out on top without being the strongest character in the room is always more interesting than someone punching their way out of trouble. But now that Ciel has gotten into the good graces of the prefects he needs to get just a little further to meet with the headmaster. After clearing things up with the prefects he mentions the name “Derrick Arden” and they all freaked out about it, perhaps he burnt some bridges again.

I’m hoping the goal of the season becomes a little clearer because as it stands now I feel like I’m in the dark. But then again as I stated this is my first experience with Black Butler so I understand why I’m lost but usually anime does enough recaps to be friendly to new viewers. Even with it being a little hard to follow I’m still having a lot of fun with this show.
