English Dub Review: Laid Back Camp “Campfires and Beef Feasts”

Overview

Nadeshiko takes it upon herself to prep the campsite and a few treats. When the other girls finally make it, it’s time for a campfire and a camp-worthy feast!

Our Take

This time around, Nadeshiko’s inventive spirit shines through as she experiments with cooking while awaiting Rin and Ayano’s arrival at the campsite, with much of the episode being spent on the girls preparing simple yet delicious meals like Hamburg steaks and beef stew, embodying the show’s charm. The arrival of Rin and Ayano adds excitement, and their camaraderie while setting up camp and cooking.

Rin’s extroverted behavior around Ayano also adds a comical yet new dynamic, while Ayano’s exhaustion from her journey is portrayed with humor and care. The focus on cooking, from Nadeshiko’s meticulous preparation to the girls’ enthusiastic enjoyment of their meal, highlights the show’s theme of finding joy in simple activities.

Overall, this episode is a cozy blend of cooking and companionship. Despite a slower first half, the scenes of the girls doing wholesome camping things added to the charm and cozy, relaxed atmosphere this show is known for, as the interactions between the characters, the detailed depiction of their camping activities, and the well-drawn food scenes created a delightful viewing experience. But it remains to be seen what we can expect in later storylines.
