English Dub Review: The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil “The Foolish Angel and Demon Spread Their Wings”

Overview:

Overwhelmed with rage and disgust at the mistreatment of Lily, Akutsu manifests black wings and attacks Zwei. However, it becomes apparent that even Lily isn’t safe from Akutsu in his blind rage.

Our Take:

I was thinking that up until this point Akutsu has seemed like… for lack of a better word… a bitch. We hadn’t seen him do much of anything, other than freak out and get saved by Lily. In this episode, he decided to wake up and go nuts. He beat Zwei like it wasn’t anything, but the problem was that he was in such a blind rage that he didn’t realize that Lily was trying to stop him and he hit her too.

The most confusing part of the episode was the way Zwei just changed his tune after getting his ass beat. I don’t mean funnily I mean thematically it didn’t make sense, all of a sudden he seemed to be on Lily’s side. Not just in an “enemy of my enemy” sort of way, it felt like he was cool with her being friends with a demon as well. The last episode has a lot of questions to answer and I’m sad it took this long to get really interesting but at least the romantic stuff was decent I suppose.
