Wang Ling gives Sun Rong some of his power so that she can fight back. Some people mistake that power for her own which might cause trouble for her later.
Our Take:
I was mistaken, Sun Rong and Wang Ling did not merge but he just gifted her a fraction of his power. Sun believes he gave her 1/10th of his power but it was 1/Billionth which is impressive because she managed to handle one of the best assassins in the world with it. It does pose the question, just how strong is Wang Ling? If that little amount is enough to push Sun to that level of power then I can only imagine how much power he has.
The problem with being targeted by one of the most famous assassins is that people all over the world want to tune in and see what is happening and in this world, people can sense certain things and the power Sun was emitting was a lot. This led the new professor to believe he had finally found his successor. Or to put it more accurately, he offered Sun Rong the title of Sword Saint on the spot.
