Overview:
A discussion with Lihaku about recent events leads Maomao to realize that the mysteries she’s helped to solve are connected. As the final piece of the puzzle falls into place, she rushes to stop the impending disaster.
Our Take:
This was an episode for the ages, we got some character revelations and some character interactions that I think will have huge ramifications going forward. Maomao found out that there was a conspiracy at play but she had no clue at all who was involved, she just knew that a high-ranking noble’s life was in danger. Of course, Maomao is of low birth and the guards aren’t going to just let her waltz into a ceremony. So, she says something that gets under one of the guard’s skin and he reacts as you would expect by smacking the absolute shit out of her. I don’t think she was expecting him to use his giant club when he did and she about lost consciousness. Something tells me that the guard just lost his job if not his life.
The high-ranking noble in question ended up being Jinshi, this poses a lot of questions. Who is he? I have thoughts and theories of course but hopefully, in the coming episodes, we get some answers. In the meantime, we have to worry about Maomao, not only did she get drilled in the face by the guard but somehow her leg got sliced open and Jinshi had to carry her out of the building. I’m excited to see what happens between these two in the next episode.
