English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “An Era of Humans”

Overview:

With the second test behind them, only one remains – but first, Frieren and Fern need to settle an important matter in town. What awaits them in the third test?

Our Take:

Frieren being an elf and living for over a thousand years doesn’t get as attached to things as most people might. Fern on the other hand is quite attached to her staff because it was given to her as a gift, so she wants to fix it instead of getting a new one. Frieren is more practical, and Fern doesn’t think she understands her but turns out Frieren might be more in touch than she’s given credit for. Fern enlists the help of a mage to get Fern’s staff repaired for her before the third test.

The third test’s proctor will be none other than Serie, the elf who taught Frieren’s master. Once Frieren heard that the third test would be an interview with Serie, she knew she wouldn’t pass. I find it a bit odd because it seems like the world would be better with Frieren as a first-class image. That’s neither here nor there because Serie failed just about everyone except for Fern. I’m not quite sure what that will do to the group now that only Fern passed but every episode has been a winner so far and I expect the next few to be as well. Now can we please get a season two announcement?
