English Dub Review: The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil “The Still Foolish Angel and Demon”
Overview:
The first demon-hunting expedition by Lily and Akutsu turns up nothing… except for Yuka, a childhood friend of Hirota’s who sees Lily as a rival for his affections!
Our Take:
When it comes to censorship nobody can top Japan, normally I can at least understand why they censor the things they do but this episode blew my mind a bit. Lily was flipping off Akutsu for a long time and they put a cover over her finger, even that I can kind of understand. The one that I second guessed was when Lily did a thumbs down motion and they censored that. I suppose it can be a symbol for “kill that person” and maybe that was why but it was weird.
Lily might have found a rival in Yuka, who might be a bigger, better bully than she is. Yuka decides to pursue a frienship with Lily in a plan to keep her enemies close. Which led to some of the better comedy of the series so far. Seeing how Yuka and Lily interact with each other was pretty funny because of all the little ways they would poke each other verbally. As more characters get introduced I’m hopeful that this series will get better.
Do we know if Hulu will be the only entity to have the dub, or if it will be on other platforms, too? The show in general is definitely going to be on multiple platforms.
