English Dub Review: The Apothecary Diaries “A Jaunt Around Town”

Overview:

Covering up Jinshi’s otherworldly beauty is no easy task. Still, after Maomao takes the challenge head-on, she’s surprised when she’s also asked to don the disguise of a noblewoman and escort “Jinka” outside the palace.

Our Take:

I’m very intrigued to see where this goes because I can’t figure out what Jinshi is up to for the life of me. My theory is that he wanted to go on a date with Maomao and this was the best way to do that but the ending of this episode has me questioning that. He asked Maomao the best way to lower the price of a concubine; to the best of my knowledge, she wasn’t a concubine.

This show has been really good but I worry that it’s going to just end all of a sudden. I know that the manga and light novels are being published in English now but I hope that shows like this have enough popularity to keep going. This, Frieren, and Solo Leveling have been so good that I want them to keep going and going! It’s hard to tell what anime will get full adaptations these days but as you can tell I’m a big fan of these three and in a lot of ways they couldn’t be more different from each other but as far as a review goes I would say that hoping a show doesn’t end tells you how I feel.
