English Dub Review: TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy “What? Moon over the Ruined Castle?”

Overview

Makoto and Shiki are making their way to Rotsgard Academy in hopes of opening a new store. Meanwhile, back in the demi-plane, everyone is helping Mio practice her cooking skills by taste-testing her dishes.

Our Take

Following Makoto’s near-death experience in Season One, he and Shiki embark on a journey toward the central city of the Rotsgard Academy, to broaden Makoto’s understanding of the world he inhabits. Along the way, the duo makes a pit stop in Obit, a city populated by humans, where they temporarily part ways. During this separation, Makoto encounters Lana, a human girl, and Eto, a demi-human wolf boy.

Despite Lana and Eto’s plea to the townspeople for assistance in safeguarding their hometown, Tapavillage, from the “Moon over the Ruined Castle” thieves, their pleas are greatly ignored. However, it doesn’t stop Makoto who decides to join them on their quest to protect Tapavillage and kick some ass. While this is going on, we also get some random comedy bits with the other cast. Mainly Mio who’s attempting to perfect her cooking skills and hilariously failing when she gets everyone to try her cooking with disastrous results, and Tomoe demanding her to improve those skills differently…

Overall, a solid jumping-on point for people new to this series.  The action was on point, the humor made me chuckle in places, the pacing didn’t drag things to any annoying degree, and I look forward to seeing what direction it goes next.
