English Dub Review: The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic “The Training from Hell Begins!”

OverviewFollowing the discovery of his unique power, Usato has been recruited/abducted into the kingdom’s Rescue Team. And he has no idea the hellacious training he’s in for.Our TakeIt turns out that the green glow from the crystal ball signifies “healing magic” triggering the presence of a towering green-haired Amazon-like teacher named Rose (voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard of One Piece fame) and it’s here when Usato goes through some of the most brutal and intense training of his life primarily to learn how to access the “mana” (magical energy) within his body and utilize his healing powers in unexpected and unimaginable ways. While the kingdom of Vulgast looks down upon Rose’s methods for being about as excessively brutal and cliche as a martial arts master, they fail to overlook Rose’s results, not to mention the captain of the guards is a bit of a douche. But like most training montages, we get to see Usato’s improvements in small ways thanks to that glowing green energy coming from his hands and you’d think he’d be sore from all the “Drill Sgt” treatment Rose is putting him through, but surprisingly it’s living up to the show’s title of using his healing magic to increase his endurance. Now the next step of his training is to search for a very specific animal in the mountains… Overall, this was quite an okay montage episode. While we’ve yet to see the antagonistic force that the three are up against. We do know certain pieces of information that help expand the lore of this show. Also, there are comical moments that balance things out in combination with physical comedy. Hopefully, we can find out the significance of Usato’s new task and why he has to fetch this random animal later on…
