English Dub Review: The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent “Theatergoing “

Overview

With the Miasma Swamps officially drained, whispers abound about Sei’s potential engagement. Sei receives a special invitation from a suitor who may not even have her eye. But as for what everyone else sees…

Our Take

In the aftermath of Sei’s successful efforts to drain a swamp of its Monster problem, you’d think Sei’s role as the Saint to have some sense of closure. However, a new twist arises when Yuri, having received a random invitation to a theater event from his adoptive father Marquis Drewes, decides to take Sei as his “plus one” for the event. However, unbeknownst to Sei, who sees it as a friendly, platonic gesture. She doesn’t know that being accompanied by someone of the opposite sex in any formal event implies a romantic relationship which leads to some humorous and awkward moments.

This also results in Liz swooping in to clarify the situation, preventing any potential misunderstandings. And despite the previous episode where she had fun with Albert, the contrivance of this show wants to drag this will they/won’t they bullshit dynamic the same way Black Clover has infamously done for years with all its unfulfilled romances at this point…

Overall, this was an okay filler episode. I’m not sure where they’re possibly going with this other than showing that Liz was looking out for Sei in terms of publicly clarifying Sei’s relationship status along with raising questions about Sei’s agency in her own romantic life and exploring how all these male suitors perceive their relationships with her. But with one more episode left for this season, how will this end?
