Bubbleblabber’s Most Anticipated New Adult Animated Series For 2024

You’ll notice that some of this list was on the 2023 “Most Anticipated” list, but how the hell was I supposed to know that strikes would cause the delays of half the series on THAT list? In any event, the year 2024 has a bunch more to be excited about and we’ve got previews below. Mark your calendars!

Grimsburg

Network: FOX

Premieres: January 7

Jon Hamm is fronting an animated comedy on FOX. I was sold just from the “Jon Hamm” part of it. We don’t know much about the rest of the cast just yet, but the premise sees Hamm take on the role of detective Marvin Flute who is trying to get his family back together. Bento Box and Boulder Media are producing the series which has already been renewed for a second season.

Ted

Network: Peacock

Premieres: January 11, 2024

In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.

Network: Prime Video

Premieres: January 19, 2024

Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be “checking out” into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult-film star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the “Radio Demon” reaches out to assist Charlie in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality.

In The Know

Network: Peacock

Premieres: January 25

In the upcoming Peacock series, Lauren Caspian is NPR’s third most popular host. He’s a well-meaning, hypocritical nimrod, just like you and me. He’s also a stop motion puppet. Each episode follows the making of an episode of Lauren’s show In the Know, in which Lauren conducts in-depth interviews with real world human guests. Lauren collaborates with a diverse crew of NPR staff. They are also puppets and nimrods.

The Second Best Hospital In The Galaxy

Network: Prime Video

Premieres: February 23

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy follows Dr. Sleech and Dr. Klak—aliens, best friends, and intergalactically renowned surgeons—as they tackle anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, and deep-space STIs. In Season One, doctors Sleech and Klak take on a highly dangerous and potentially groundbreaking case and, in doing so, put existence itself in jeopardy. Although considering their dismal personal lives, oblivion might be an improvement. All eight episodes of the adult animated sci-fi comedy from Emmy Award winning creator Cirocco Dunlap, and Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens and Natasha Lyonne’s Animal Pictures, will debut on February 23, 2024.

Tomb Raider

Video game adaptations are becoming the defacto calling card for Netflix, and Tomb Raider hopes it can continue to help carry that card for the streamer.

Lara Croft, one of the video game world’s most iconic adventurers, makes her anime debut in an all new series. Picking up after the events of the highly successful Tomb Raider video-game reboot trilogy, the animated series will chart the globetrotting heroine’s latest, greatest adventure. Twenty-five years after her first game appeared, Lara continues to explore new territory.
