Review: The Loud House “Twas the Fight Before Christmas”

Overview

Lincoln recruits his cousins to help end the years-long feud between Dad and Uncle Lance (Rob Riggle) so they can finally celebrate Christmas together.

Our Take

This time around, The Loud House has now reached its 3rd Christmas Special in 7 Seasons with the final episode of 2023 being the introduction to another branch of the titular Louds that hasn’t been introduced until now. Uncle Lance is A hyper-masculine dude-bro sibling (Let’s face it, most of us all had a jerk sibling like this in some form or another…) voiced by Rob Riggle who’s no stranger to comedy, but the driving force, of course, is Lance’s interracial family who’s 3 kids remain on friendly speaking terms with Lincoln and his siblings compared to the two brothers themselves.

As per usual, many of the contrived situational comedic cliches you’ve come to expect are here. With sibling rivalry being a key theme. The introduction of new characters creates new dynamics, even if the weird aspect is this branch of the family all having “SH” names. It almost gives off “Duggar” vibes since they’re all named with one common letter, yet some (if not all) of the jokes feel a bit grounded in reality.

Overall, a passable holiday special. I’m surprised they can keep making these on a consistent level and still find clever ways to keep them fresh. While Rob Riggle does an okay performance as this “Alpha Male” jerk of a brother, the other family members on his side at least were well done.
