English Dub Review: The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist “End of First Trimester Commemoration Parfait!”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Wataru blurts out a weird sound. Meanwhile, Aika discusses her summer break plans with Kei. Aika and Sasaki are appointed to be tour guides for middle schoolers.

Our Take:
We’re already halfway through the series, meaning that summer vacation is much closer than everyone thinks. But, of course, they have to survive their final exams if they want to spend three months under the hot sun, including Wataru. Amid his new job at the used book store and the upcoming School Campus tour, Wataru is now faced with a new favor from Rin and her student council members, who want Wataru to join the Moral Public Committee. However, Wataru refuses, mainly due to his old ways and accidentally touching Inatomi’s hands, much to Rin and Aya’s frustration. But it was clearly Inatomi who felt Wataru’s hands first, so I don’t think they have the right to ruffle Wataru up over that incident.
However, that’s not the only thing that happened to Wataru in this episode. He winds up saving a young boy named Kota Sasaki, who’s picked on by a group of middle school bullies. The fact that these asshats might be a part of the upcoming school tour makes me worried for Aika and Takaaki, who volunteered as tour guides. This resulted in Wataru meeting Kota’s sister, Fuka, a junior high school girl who immediately takes a liking to him. Wataru feels the same way for her, so it looks like we may have a love triangle between Wataru, Fuka, and Aika on our hands. The question now is how long this new relationship will last until Aika finds out. It’s definitely an interesting way to cap off the series’s first half, even though the rom-com signs continue to be on the nose. Fuka seems like an intriguing addition to the cast that could shake up Wataru’s love life, but it’ll depend on how big of a role she’ll have in the remaining episodes. Next up, summer vacation!
