English Dub Review: The Eminence in Shadow “Something Precious”

Overview

The Major Corporate Alliance has been forced into closure of all their storefronts, bringing the citizens’ unrest to its peak. But can Shadow Garden weather the storm?

Our Take

As evidence begins to surface regarding Gettan’s forged banknote scheme to undermine Mitsugoshi, It sparks hope in Alpha that Cid’s counterfeit banknotes were initially meant to thwart the cult. Later on, a coded letter from Cid, retrieved by Alpha, further supports this notion, revealing his motives and the gold’s location. However, a misunderstanding arises when Cid believes Gettan has stolen the gold, unaware that Shadow Garden decoded his letter.

However, in a series of events that have culminated to this moment. Yukime defeats Gettan, who retaliates but is stopped by “John Smith.” Yukime, discovering John Smith’s unintentional heroism in her past, falls in love with him. And Gettan’s dying wish entrusts Yukime to John Smith. Alpha later discloses the existence of Shadow Garden to Yukime and proposes an alliance with Yukime, and as Cid misinterprets events, he spends weeks searching for the gold. Upon his decision to disappear temporarily, Delta makes a crucial discovery…

Overall, the series of misunderstandings that occurred throughout the proceedings gave me a good laugh. Everything fell into place. In the end, things worked out through dumb luck and according to a master plan that never really existed. In the end, I’m glad that Gettan and the cult’s plans were dealt with successfully. The girls within Shadow Garden are still always ready to do whatever they need to live up to Cid/Shadow’s expectations even if they aren’t always involved. He just does whatever he wants and it works out in the end. With Cid going to parts unknown, I’m curious where this can go next!
