English Dub Review: Management of a Novice Alchemist “Let’s Go Gather Honey!”

Overview:

Iris and Kate have a debt to pay. Sarasa suggests they gather fruit rot bee honey! But this quest isn’t entirely sweet…

Our Take:

I’ve never related to an anime character more than when I was watching Iris and Kate practically shit themselves. Sarasa was upset that they ate some of the fruit rot bee honey, not because of its value but because they were about to become intimately familiar with the toilet. Fruit rot bee honey is poisonous but in the low amount that they ate, they were going to have some bowel problems.

Sarasa has a pretty keen business mind with the way she sees how the market works and what customers might want. She is using the fruit rot bee honey to make antidotes to multiple things and she notices how the season can affect buying tendencies. Everyone else was surprised that her cooling hats weren’t selling anymore but it’s no longer summer so it makes sense that it wouldn’t be as big a seller during the cooler months. I just thought that was a fun little wrinkle to an anime when usually anime is all about the action.
