English Dub Review: Heaven Official’s Blessing “S2-E5”

Overview:

Things with Hua Cheng come to a head and everything explodes. Xie Lian attempts to clean up the pieces but something comes to light that casts a shadow over Xie Lian’s past.

Our Take:

So I know that most everyone Xie Lian deals with is either a god or a spirit or something but it makes me wonder given what we know about gods, how there are any secrets when it comes to them. You mean to tell me that Xie Lian could have been a maniacal killer in the past but even the king of heaven didn’t know? Some of that just makes no sense to me because most gods are all-seeing if not omnipotent.

What was cool about seeing some of the flashbacks to who was potentially Xie Lian was that I am a sucker for the masked hero/villain shtick. If I know Xie Lian like I think I do I would lean more towards him being the hero than the villain in this particular situation. Someone has accused him of killing his whole family but that isn’t really the type of guy he is something tells me that as this mystery gets cleared up we are going to learn that he was trying to do good.
