Pibby: Adult Swim Not Moving Forward With Series

Despite taking the internet by storm with 33 million views a year ago, Adult Swim has opted not to move forward with any form of a Learning With Pibby series. This after creator Dodge Greenley had announced a such on Instagram just yesterday.

The April Fool’s Day prank in 2022 features Pibby and Bun-Bun from the pitch trailer for an animated series, Learning with Pibby, created by Dodge Greenley, with Nikki Castillo reprising the role of Pibby. The characters and antagonistic glitching force are transported into the night’s lineup of shows and make appearances throughout, depicting the events of the pilot from the perspective of the television series the characters would be passing through. The live broadcast received universal critical acclaim and positive reviews from critics and audiences alike

Pibby and Bun Bun, the main characters from the Come and Learn with Pibby proof-of-concept short, appeared in Adult Swim’s programming and bumpers from midnight to 2:00 a.m., occasionally having characters and the environment be visually corrupted. The prank repeated from 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., and Adult Swim later posted a compilation of all the corruptions done in the night’s prank. A Pibby-related song played over the network sign-off at 5:59 a.m. HBO Max added the short, and themed the Adult Swim hub around the prank for the following week.

Here’s what Greeley had to say, “I have sad news to share. I’m sorry to say that Pibby has still not been greenlit, and it doesn’t look like it will happen in the near future. Making a show is a long, difficult process, and you can never say never, but for now, it looks like Pibby most likely wont become a show. I’m sorry to all the fans. Thank you for all your support.
