English Dub Review: Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War “The Master”

Overview:

Yhwach escapes from the cage surrounding Squad Zero’s fake Royal Palace to confront Hyosube, who is protecting the real Royal Palace.

Our Take:

It feels like there have been quite a few controversies surrounding this show for whatever reason. This time it’s surrounding the character Yoruichi Shihouin and who will voice her. In the original series, it was Wendee Lee and then it was announced that it would be Anairis Quinones but now it is Wendee again. I don’t know who makes the casting decisions but we should leave the VAs out of it, I think they all want the same thing which is a great series.

One thing I didn’t expect from this episode was to find out that Yoruichi has a brother and as you can expect from an anime he has a sister complex. Honestly, it feels like a lot of the main characters from the past have taken a backseat in this arc but maybe that’s for a reason.

Once again we had another battle reversal, it looked like Squad Zero was mopping the floor with the Quincy but then Yhwach busted out another broken power. This power upset some of his subordinates though because well… it kills them. It takes the power (and life) from some of the Quincy and allocates it to people who can use it better. This means if the person was dead at the time they are now brought back to life. I figured something like this would happen but it still caused a bit of an eye roll on my part. I believe there’s one episode left and then we’re on to waiting for part three.
