English Dub Review: Jujutsu Kaisen “Shibuya Incident”

Overview:

Team Mei Mei are reassigned to a veil that has been lowered over Meiji Shrine Station. The team splits up and Yuji encounters a grasshopper curse assigned to protecting the veil. Elsewhere Satoru Gojo encounters Jogo, Hanami, and Choso.

Our Take:

This episode showed what makes Jujutsu Kaisen so great and popular. The animation is amazing and more than all of that it has some of the best characters in shonen. Honestly, as much as I love a lot of different anime characters, Gojo might be the coolest anime character in existence. I think one of the things I love about him is that unlike a lot of powerful characters who act like they don’t know they’re tough he lets you know. I don’t know if there is a character that is as cocky as Gojo this would normally lead people to hate him but he’s one of the most popular characters around.

Gojo isn’t the only enjoyable character, Yuji Itadori might come across as a dumb guy a lot of the time. Not only that but he is always joking around and happy that when you see him get serious it’s a sight to behold. I’ve heard a lot about the Shibuya Arc and I have next to zero knowledge of it but I have to say after this first episode it seems like it’s going to get really good and stay that way.
