English Dub Review: Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War “Heart of Wolf”

Overview:

The tides of battle seemed to have turned after the captains reclaimed their stolen Bankai. However, the Stern Ritters release their Quincy Voll Stern Dich to drive the Soul Reapers deeper into a corner.

Our Take:

One thing I’ve begun to notice about this arc of Bleach is that there seems to be very little of Ichigo in it. There were a couple of arcs like that previously I suppose but the last badass moment I remember Ichigo having was back in the first episode of Thousand-Year Blood War which was a while ago. He has been stuck in a “training” arc of sorts and they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder so I’m sure when he bursts back onto the scene it will be dope.

I mentioned last week that one of the things that annoys me about shonen anime is all the different ebbs and flows just to keep the status quo changing. It feels like padding oftentimes and can be frustrating but so far at least this part seems to be a bit more balanced than I might have originally given it credit for. Some of the soul reaper captains seem unphased by the Quincy Voll Stern Dich (say that three times fast) and I think we have some amazing fights incoming.
