English Dub Review: TenPuru: No One Can Live on Loneliness “Being Pervy Isn’t a Bad Thing”

Overview

Akagami Akemitsu begins to settle into his new life as a servant to the women of Mikazuki Temple. However, not everyone is thrilled to have him. Tsukuyo and some of the others plot to frame him and have him kicked out.

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, and recognizing the the disrepair of the temple due to the missing money from Akemitsu’s shitty father. Akemitsu swears to fix everything. Yuzuki is convinced of his pure heart but the others conspire to expose him so Yuzuki will kick him out. Tsukuyo is chosen to distract him with her body so he messes up his chores, yet despite repressing his perverse thoughts he completes chores perfectly and even excels in cooking. Tsukuyo opts for seduction and ambushes him in the bath, but she panics at his nudity and an accidental fall ends in them in a compromising position, witnessed by Yuzuki who asks Akemitsu to leave.

Everyone celebrates but Yuzuki starts avoiding Tsukuyo, though this turns out to be an embarrassment as Yuzuki can’t think about Akemitsu’s nude body. Tsukuyo realizes she may have misjudged him. Akemitsu resigns himself to homelessness until Yuzuki tracks him down, explaining she only meant to order him to leave the bathroom, not the temple. Tsukuyo apologizes to him, but adds 5 million to his debt for stealing her first kiss. Mia is furious Akemitsu returned. Kurage gives him advice that perverted aspects in people exist in all humans since Buddha himself had children, teasing the possibility that even Yuzuki is a little pervy. the episode ends when Kurage tricks him into being pranked which results in a predictable yet cringey ending…

Overall, it’s easy to assume that there’s going to be a somewhat predictable story pattern/structure for each episode with the current pattern featuring one girl per episode, and Akemitsu winning them over in some way, even if he’s trying to make himself resist temptation. Also, It’s quite refreshing that it doesn’t fall into the cliche trope of a girl being irrationally pissed without explanation towards an awkward moment and punching a dude as a cheap punchline to a joke. And understands things can be explained by talking things out is something a sane person would thankfully say. Now all he needs to do is win over the other girls, without being a perv, I won’t say it’s impossible but “Challenge Accepted” I guess…
