English Dub Review: Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts: “The Holy Beast of Immortality and Rebirth”

Overview: Sariphi (Emi Lo) gives it her all to support Leonhart (Ray Hurd), trying to summon a Holy Beast. What she gets, though, is far different than what she had imagined.

Our Take: The little proactive steps Sariphi has taken towards helping Leonhart have been a treat in her gradual progression. She takes a much bigger one in attempting to summon a Holy Beast. It’s a sweet, albeit predictable one-and-done romp solved with a little Leon encouragement.

However, the phoenix’s true form is a nice twist in how much of a literal shitbird he is, at least on the surface. His callousness is an unfortunate effect of the abuse he’s suffered from those seeking his power. It makes Sariphi faith and gentler nature a rejuvenating shake-up from what’s been subjected to.

Again, the friendship trope is leaned on hard here as it is used once again as the catalyst for Bannu’s transformation. It’d be nice if his evolution were properly built up for a more effective resolution. Still, like with Leon, it’s wholesome enough, at least as a means of establishing Sariphi and Bannu’s connection.
