English Dub Review: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury “Our Empty Selves”

Overview:

Defeated in a duel, Suletta has suddenly lost both Miorine and the Aerial. To shake off her sadness, she throws herself into school life. Miorine is preparing for the presidential election, just as she promised Prospera. But she is clearly worried as Shaddiq takes the lead.

Our Take:

Last week we didn’t get an episode for whatever reason and it was the worst time for a one-week break. Suletta lost her duel, she’s no longer the holder and it seems like the one person she cares about more than her mother and Aerial has abandoned her. Oh, and she lost Aerial which isn’t just a mobile suit to her but also family, which as we learn in this episode isn’t necessarily her just being odd. Suletta is seemingly the same as Elan Ceres and is a clone of Eri’s genetic material.

It’s just been “shit on Suletta” time the last few episodes and it makes me sad cause she’s really sweet and kind. I still think that ultimately the people around her are doing what they’re doing because they care about her and want her out of danger. It’s still hard to see and makes me sad. But if there is one thing this series is doing well it’s the character development and I look forward to seeing how they all grow from here.
