English Dub Review: Farming Life in Another World “More and More New Roommates”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

Hiraku and Ru begin their new life together, unaware of the visitors who will soon arrive at their household.

Our Take:

Hiraku’s new life and farm continue to expand, with him finding someone to share them with: the vampire girl Rurushi Ru. Despite her thirst for blood and loli appearance, her medicinal research and kind personality are enough for Hiraku to have her as his wife. Ru is the first to assist Hiraku in expanding his farm and curing his loneliness. However, this week’s episode of Farming Life in Another World showcases that she’s not the last.

As seen in the previous episode, we have yet another female traveler looking for the Death Forest, where Ru and Hiraku reside. The traveler reveals herself as a bounty-hunting angel named Tia (Monica Rial), who arrives at the farm to look for Ru. Ru is wanted by Tia, known as the “Annihilation Angel”, due to the former destroying a town. However, it’s revealed that Ru intentionally annihilated the village because she was imprisoned there by a noble. Despite that, Ru asks Tia to live with her and Hiraku, to which Tia agrees after witnessing their farming life.

Afterward, we get another series of events involving the characters expanding the farm to fit their and their monsters’ needs. That includes more space for the wolves and Zabuton when the dogs give birth to even more puppies. Additionally, Hiraku’s crew increases when Tia invites the high-elf clan led by Ria (Katelyn Barr) to work for them so they can have a home to rebuild their population. The elves also have multiple skills that other people from different classes can do, including blacksmithing and baking, so Hiraku doesn’t have to worry about cooking by himself anymore.

By its third episode, I can easily see the narrative pattern in Farming Life in Another World. Hiraku expands the farm while narrating and gaining new members, making his duties easier to complete. By that, I mean gorgeous fantasy women who make up a harem for the farmer. The structure still contains a few charming and serene moments, including Tia and the elves fainting in front of Zabuton and the wolves. However, if this is the main pattern we must endure until the finale, it might become derivatively dull faster than how Hiraku grows his crops.
