Report: Comedy Central Toons Out Of Stephen Colbert’s Tooning Out The News
After three seasons and 250 episodes, Comedy Central has canceled Stephen Colbert’s Tooning Out The News.
The series from Stephen Colbert and RJ Fried comes from Late Night Toons Inc., which is an off-shoot of CBS Eye Animation Productions and made news last year as both CBS Eye AND Late Night Toons Inc were looking to unionize with IATSE and most recently was one of the late-night casualties of no new episodes from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as a result of the WGA strike. Note, whenever Colbert aired new episodes, content would be fed to the official YouTube channel for the show where Stephen Colbert’s Tooning Out The News also wafted over some of that liberal-leaning audience it so covets.
As for RJ Fried, with Fairview, Our Cartoon President and this series all having been canceled over the last couple of years, this leaves the whereabouts of his written Washingtonia which was announced at New York Comic-Con 2021 with a trailer but as of now has not aired anywhere.
Do we know if Hulu will be the only entity to have the dub, or if it will be on other platforms, too? The show in general is definitely going to be on multiple platforms.
