English Dub Review: My Home Hero “Mother and Mother”

Overview:

As the deadline approaches, Tetsuo and Kasen begin putting a plan in action to frame someone else for Nobuto’s murder. Kyoichi contacts Reika and attempts to meet with her.

Our Take:

I know I’ve said it before but this anime is not good for my blood pressure. It’s a constant cat-and-mouse setup but who is the cat and who is the mouse is constantly changing. Just when Tetsuo thinks he has the upper hand something happens and he’s back on the bottom. Kyoichi of course has a sad backstory for himself and since Kasen was the one to try to frame him it didn’t go as well. Being a mother herself I imagine it was difficult to talk to Kyoichi’s mother knowing that he would die if their plan worked. But I love stories like this where people learn that to protect the people that matter to you it oftentimes means you have to hurt someone else.

I’d have to say the only thing I dislike about this anime is all the cliffhangers. It always ends right when something crazy is about to happen. Kyoichi has started talking with their daughter Reika and the whole plan could unravel. I don’t want to wait a week to see what happens!
