English Dub Review: Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear “Bear, Becoming the Hero(?)”
Overview:
Yuna dreams of being the hero who saves Princess Fina as she finishes the golem-hunting quest to obtain Mithril. Golems infinitely spawn? The tunnel might collapse if she goes all out. Even a Mithril golem? Yuna will challenge it all!
Our Take:
It’s hard to pinpoint why these last few episodes have been so enjoyable. Sure, it reminds me of my love of the new Zelda game is part of it but there is more to it than that. It does something to that reward center in my brain when Yuna completes a quest just like if I had completed it myself.
One thing that was interesting was Yuna deciding that she couldn’t go all out in these cave tunnels because she would bring the cave down on herself. That is something we don’t see all the time in power fantasy anime like this. Sure, you can destroy a town with your fist but if you use that kind of power in the wrong environment then you could kill yourself and anyone who’s with you.
This is my first time ever watching Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear but it has been a lot of fun. VRMMORPG isekai anime can be a real hit or miss but this one is charming enough to be enjoyable. Not a lot of the characters have stood out but just enough to make me care.
Do we know if Hulu will be the only entity to have the dub, or if it will be on other platforms, too? The show in general is definitely going to be on multiple platforms.
