English Dub Review: Bluelock “The Stage for the Lead”

Overview:

Isagi and Nagi paint countless possibilities for goals as they understand each other’s weapons. Likewise, Kunigami and Reo make a great effort to center around Chigiri, who has evolved one step further. In the midst of all this, Baro, the king of the field, was left out of the chain of evolution because of his strong ego. When Isagi takes the leading role of the field from him, the sense of defeat makes Barou kneel down to the ground.

Our Take:

This episode was so up and down emotionally that I didn’t know what to think. Interestingly, it seemed as if Baro had conceded to Isagi as the stronger player by choosing to pass to him so he could score. Honestly, if he would have stayed that way it would have been kind of disappointing. I wanted him to become more of a team player sure but I didn’t want to see him become completely spineless either.

So, when Baro hit his evolution mid-game it was really exciting. Now their team is becoming even stronger but we will see how things go for Baro in the upcoming episodes. More interesting is that now that the match is over they have to choose one of the players to keep. I wonder who they’ll choose. Personally, I want them to go for Chigiri but his talents seemed pretty aligned with Nagi just Nagi goes a bit slower. Reo doesn’t have too much going for him from what I can tell and Kunigami’s skills line up pretty similarly with Baro. So if I had to guess they are going to choose Reo because his relationship with Nagi would be interesting and we would get to find out his talent. We will find out next week I suppose.
