Review: South Park “CUPID YE”

Overview

Cartman is jealous of the friendship that’s developed between Kyle and Tolkien over TikTok and decides to do something about it by insinuating that Kyle, being a Jew, runs Hollywood. Cartman’s evil alter ego Cupid Ye wants to be a “model Christian”, and opts to go around the school and continue to sprinkle the idea that Kyle runs Hollywood which obviously sets off alarms for two types of people…wanna be showbiz types, and PC Principal.

Eventually, Cartman successfully drives a wedge between Kyle and Tolkien but Cupid Ye wants more and goes nuts all over South Park spreading the word of both the Lord and Mein Kempf. As a result, a number of the kids at South Park Elementary turn into Nazis and go after Kyle. Fortunately, Stan, Tolkien, and Cartman come to Kyle’s aid long enough for Cupid Ye to get his meds and turn back to Cupid Me.

Later, Kyle gives a speech and is nominated to actually run Hollywood.

Our Take

Aaaaand we’re off! The 26th season of South Park has launched and the premiere episode just bowled me the fuck over. Clearly in response to Kanye West saying negative things about South Park recently, just Matt Stone (and only Matt Stone) fires back with a doozy of an episode that might even be a tad more potent than “Fish Sticks”. I mean, Kanye just got called a Nazi, and now Kyle really does run Hollywood and it looks as though he’s got a full plate of pitches up to bat.

The set up and execution of this week’s episode is pretty flawless all across the board and everybody was put on notice. Clearly, the producers are not done with the PC crowd and even a slight continuation of the “Streaming Wars” seems to be evident so it will be interesting to see how that plays in the next few weeks. PS, if you HAVEN’T watched either of the Streaming Wars specials on Paramount+, I highly suggest you do it right now. You may need the knowledge and knowledge is power from what Mortal Kombat 2 arcades told me.
