English Dub Review: Buddy Daddies “What Will Be, Will Be”

Overview:

Miri starts going to daycare.

Our Take:

Miri continues to be too much for Kazuki and Rei to handle. So much so that they look into putting her in a daycare. The process ends up being a lot more complicated than they originally thought, but they do manage to get her into one.

Kazuki thinks that first impressions are everything, so he and Rei buy Miri a lot of fancy clothes to wear. They do make an interesting first impression for sure, but unfortunately it’s not positive. Miri’s expensive clothes actually prevent her from making friends. Naturally, she isn’t enjoying her time at daycare because of this.

Anna, one of the daycare workers, helps Kazuki out and tells him where to get more suitable clothes. Once he takes her advice, in addition to playing with Miri in front of the other kids, Miri soon becomes very popular. This is the start of a new chapter for the family and it looks like it’s starting off well.

I always love seeing how energetic Miri is. She gets so excited by every little thing and she also tries helping out with everything. of course, she ends up messing everything up, but she always laughs about it. It’s refreshing to see an anime child not cry every time they do something wrong. Sure, Kazuki and Rei could do a slightly better job at disciplining her, but they’re new to being parents.

It’s a great idea to send her to daycare because it gives them some peace of mind and Miri won’t get mixed up in their assassin business now. I feel like Kazuki is starting to think and act more like a father. He still makes mistakes, but he’s at least trying. Kazuki wants Miri to make a good first impression, so he gets her new clothes. He didn’t know that would actually make it harder for her to make friends, but he learns.

I also like Anna from the daycare because she’s very helpful and kind. I’m not sure how big of a role she’ll play from this point on, but she’s a major part of this episode. I always like seeing supporting characters getting the spotlight and I was pleased to see her get plenty of screen time.

Overall, this is a great episode. It features so many learning moments and a lot of touching moments as well. It even ends with a touching moment, which is always a good note to end on. It’s mentioned that the assassin business is slow, so I’m curious to see what’s going on with that. Now that Miri’s in daycare though, I would imagine business will start to pick up again soon.
